Standards

The GS1 System (formerly the EAN.UCC System) of supply chain standards is an integral part of the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN).

The GS1 System is a common language of electronic identification and communication that can be used by any organisation, regardless of size, industry or location. It is essential for enabling trading partners to share common product data. Its use by all parties within the supply chain helps drive out supply chain costs and improves productivity and efficiency.

GDSN is managed by GDSN Inc, a subsidiary of GS1. GDSN Inc oversees:

  • The governance of the The GS1 Global Registry and ensuring the GS1 Global Registry subscription service meets the needs of the entire global community
  • Certification of data pools according to the latest GDSN standards
  • Adoption of GDSN globally
  • The commercial and governance model for GDSN

GDSN standards are published once a year. For full information please visit www.gs1.org/gdsn
