Electronic communications
Once globally unique numbers have been assigned to items, cases and logistics units, they can be used within electronic messages for automated trading. Transactions such as orders, invoices and delivery advices can be communicated by using standard global electronic messages, commonly referred to as EDI or electronic data interchange. The messages can then be processed automatically.
Benefits:
- One global standard for communication
- Decreases manual errors
- Communicated information is automatically processed in the internal system
- Standard format messages are understood and translated uniformly
- Immediate delivery of information
