The EANnet network

The EANnet network is based on a service platform which provides the interchanges among the electronic interconnected catalogues. Supplementary, beides the services platforme there is a database derived from the CEROM catalogue containing a minimum information about the commercial articles of the suppliers. The EANnet.ro network works by routing the users to the owners’ catalogues or multi-companies’ catalogues containing detailed information about the commercial articles, where they want to subscribe, for updated data receiving. The link between the catalogues and the EANnet.ro is secured due to an identifier user/password settled to every conection, agreed between the two parts. This identifier is granted by GS1 Romania, when the catalogue is certified, according to a set of rules.

The EANnet.ro is opened to any catalogues’ owners and for a connection link , The Solution Center, as administrator, offers the certification task book for any interested person. The electronic catalogues must comply the GS1 rules system: the identifier for products an services are GTIN and GLN. The interconnection solution is based on requests and answers flow changed between the HTTP servers in XML format, using http protocol.

The user can be a supplier ( declares products and locations) or a distributor ( declares only locations).

The used transaction for publishing can be XML according to GS1 standard or in an owner format. All the changes between the catalogue and the platform are done by standard transactions and their implementation by the network operators is checked in the authentification process.

The EANnet. ro can control searching procedures for commecial articles, started by the selection of one from the next requests types:
  • searching based on the products grouping
  • searching based on the commercial brand or procedures of synchronized product information which can express:
    • product information requests (orders) starting from GTIN code
    • product information requests (orders) starting from GLN of the information editor

According to these procedures, the order is initiated with the chosen local electronic catalogue, which formats the request and sends it to the EANnet.ro network . The EANnet.ro network manages the request’s conversions linking the information from the e-CEROM and it serves as a linking relay to the other connected catalogues. Every interconnected catalogue receives the order and performs the suitable processing task and it returns the answer to the EANnet.ro . The EANnet.ro network collects the answers and returns the flow to the local catalogue which had initiated the order.

If the ordered information doesn’t exist in any electronic catalogue from EANnet.ro network, the answer will include only company details , as they are found in the CEROM catalogue (if they are found) or in another catalogue from the GEPIR network , linked with the EANnet.ro network.
