The offers presenting in electronic catalogues
In 1998, the GS1 Romania General Assembly decided to print an electronic catalogue for products. The main goal was the installation of a specific infrastructure and a permanent organization system to support a central database for GS1 identified products and services. So, the CEROM catalogue was born. This is a protected catalogue of products which receives, verifies and records basic data about the products. This catalogue is free available for any GS1 Romania member company, only with the Internet password. It can be also available in a subscription system to any other interested company. The companies access the catalogue as a data provider or as an information interested entity. In 2003 this database was re-organized for a multiple access, linked with EANnet.ro and the global classification.
The EANnet.ro project is still developed and it creates an interconnected platform for the content of other sectorial catalogues or romanian companies’ catalogues, accorded to GS1 specifications.
The GS1 Romania affiliation to Global GS1 Party Information Register (GEPIR) is another initiative. The GS1 secretariate is confronted all the time with questions such as: “ Whose number is this GS1 product number?” or “ Where is the location of a certain company? ”or “ Does this GS1 product number legally belong to a romanian GS1 member company ?”
By GEPIR, every user accesses the information in the affiliated companies’ databases and the user can find these answers, alone. Using a GTIN, a GLN or a SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code) searching criteria, or a part of the company’s name as a searching criteria, the whole company coordinates can be found and its contacts, too . The GS1 prefix of the input number ( 594 for Romania, 54 for Belgium, 50 for Great Britain) leads to the apropriate GS1 database by the central network register located in Switzerland.
